What do procedure to procedure edits represent?
These mutually exclusive procedures cannot be reported on the same date of service unless the clinical circumstance justifies the use of a modifier. They represent:
- Procedures that cannot occur during the same operative session due to medical impossibility or improbability;
- Performance of two different methods to accomplish the same therapeutic result when only one was successful; or
- Initial and a subsequent service on the same date.
