Radiology Compliance Question of the Week


Can we assign an echo code when performing echocardiography for single-function guidance to assist in a code 33017 pericardial drainage procedure?


If echocardiography (CPT 93303-93325) is used for the single function of guidance to assist in any of these (CPT® 33016-33019) drainage procedures, the echo codes may not also be assigned.
