Radiology Compliance Question of the Week

Question:

How should a CT of the sternum be coded?

Answer:

CT of the sternum is coded using the CT of the chest series, 71250–71270, as long as the indication of the exam was specific to the sternum, and the sternum was studied in its entirety and documented as such.
