Question:
Is there any other code except 37243 for fibroid embolization?
Answer:
You would also report the appropriate catheterization code(s) and, if appropriate, the following code:
76937 | Ultrasound guidance for vascular access requiring ultrasound evaluation of potential access sites, documentation of selected vessel patency, concurrent realtime ultrasound visualization of vascular needle entry, with permanent recording and reporting (List separately in addition to code for primary procedure) |
If a diagnostic angiogram is also performed, then codes for that may be reported as well; however, in most cases of fibroid embolization, the diagnosis has already been made.
Be sure to consult the guidelines in the CPT book related to diagnostic angiography performed at the time of an interventional procedure to determine whether it is separately reportable.
