Question:
If fluoroscopy is performed with cardiac catheterization, can it be reported separately?
Answer:
Fluoroscopy is integral to a cardiac catheterization procedure and should not be reported separately from it. However, if on the same date of service (DOS) the physician performs another procedure in addition to the cardiac catheterization and the additional procedure requires fluoroscopy that is not integral to the additional procedure, the fluoroscopy procedure may be reported separately with an NCCI-associated modifier.
