What are the code families for pap smear services?


The following four code families are used for reporting Pap smear services:

  • Thin layer preparation, any system of reporting manual or automated screening (88142, 88143, 88174, 88175)
  • Primary screening by an automated system (88147, 88148)
  • Non-Bethesda reporting (88150–88153)
  • Bethesda System of reporting (88164–88167).
