What are the most common cytogenetic procedures, and what codes are reported for them?

Answer:

The most commonly used procedures in cytogenetics are bone marrow studies(88237), tissue culture for non-neoplastic disorders (88235), and 15–20 cell banded karyotype studies (88262). However, the codes vary with the reference laboratory’s protocol. Do not attempt to guess at their procedures—call for verification.
