Question:

In the proposed rule about the new payment system for labs, does CMS say whether payments will change?

Answer:

The payment for a lab test cannot drop more than 10 percent from the previous year’s payment for the first three years after implementation (2017–2019), and not more than 15 percent for the subsequent three years (2020–2022), according to the proposed rule.
