Question:

During a left heart catheterization (LHC) procedure for myocardial infarction (STEMI), the patient required insertion of a temporary pacer due to bradycardia. Can I charge 33210 in addition to 93458?

Answer:

Unfortunately you cannot. Code 33210 is listed as a separate procedure so can’t be reported if used during another procedure. There are correct coding edits for 33210 with 93458 and all of the other heart catheterization and coronary angiography codes. The edit cannot be bypassed.
