Nuclear Medicine & PET Coder FY20Q1 Update

Thank you for being a valued subscriber to the Nuclear Medicine & PET Coder for 2020. As you know, nuclear medicine is facing two new code sets this year, we are eager to tackle the challenges that are sure to arise from them together. We put all our energy into making sure your resources provide the most current and complete solutions to your everyday – and maybe not so everyday – coding, charge capture, and compliance questions and challenges. When updating the 2020 edition of the Nuclear Medicine & PET Coder, our team paid extra attention to:

New and revised codes for planar, SPECT and SPECT/CT. These codes have already resulted in a lot of uncertainty – they leave room for interpretation which, when it comes to coding, isn’t always a good thing.

New and revised codes for myocardial PET. This series of codes underwent heavy revisions to better identify (and bundle) the component services of cardiac PET and PET/CT studies. Understanding what’s included in each code, and what isn’t, is key.

Detailed breakdowns of the codes and their use. It’s one thing to have a list of codes and descriptions, it’s another to understand how to use them. We have worked to make the application of these new codes as easy as possible.

Also, if you haven’t already, check out our Compliance Question of the Week. This free, weekly newsletter brings common questions and answers straight to your inbox every Monday and includes a searchable archive. You can sign up here.

We look forward to partnering with you this year and providing you with the relevant news and information you need to meet the challenges ahead. Rest assured, your success is our top priority.

If there’s anything we can do to enhance your experience, or you feel something is missing, we would be happy to hear from you. Here’s to 2020!
