Code 49185 is a new code for 2016 that describes sclerotherapy of a fluid collection such as a cyst.  This code includes injection(s) of contrast material and the sclerosant, imaging guidance, as well as supervision and interpretation.  If a diagnostic study is performed, it is also included in 49185 and not separately coded.  However, if the cyst is drained prior to the sclerotherapy, the appropriate aspiaration or drainage code may be separately reported.
