Question:
Question:
What are the key factors in determining aspiration versus biopsy? Is it based on the needle used, or is it based on pulling fluid versus tissue?
Answer:
Answer:
The difference is technique: Is the physician removing a piece (core) of tissue or suctioning / aspirating out cells or fluid? Another thing to consider is where the material is being sent. If it’s for cytology, chances are that it is aspiration; if histology, then it would be a core biopsy.
