What is the correct CPT code for an ultrasound of the chest wall? The patient had bilateral mastectomies and came in for ultrasound due to palpable right chest wall lump.  

Answer

The following code would be assigned for an ultrasound of the chest wall: 

76604 Ultrasound, chest (includes mediastinum), real time with image documentation

If it is very limited (i.e., soft tissue only), you may want to add the -52 modifier.
